Part of my current job description as a Junior Content Creator involves researching about national days. Before I populate a respective month’s content calendar, I have to go through the said month’s national days and determine whether they align with the brand’s vision. There are nearly 1,500 national days with some being globally recognized and celebrated while others are informal and easily go unnoticed.

While I was coming up with content for the month of March, I was awesomely surprised to find out that March 10 is International Day of Awesomeness.

Can you believe it? Can you honestly believe it!

I mean, I’ve always known I am awesome but having my special day set aside as the special day…

{Shakes head in disbelief.

I feel like The Miz: BECAUSE I’M THE MIZ…. AND I’M AWESOME!

Anyways.

Kevin Lawver, an American web application developer, is the brains behind the informal holiday. He came up with it on August 6, 2007 when one of his co-workers (Freddie Maneiro) suggested that they should have a day to celebrate his awesomeness.

After much deliberation, they decided to have it on March 10 as an ode to Chuck Norris – who was born on this day. The day is not meant to celebrate the actual man but rather, the myth of Chuck Norris. Surely, you must be familiar with the myth of the “online cult hero”?

“’No one’s perfect, but everyone can be awesome” – this is the tagline for the red-letter day; a truism coined by Lawver’s own seed. And it is in this spirit, I am sharing with you My 27 Thoughts on Life to commemorate this year’s International Day of Awesomeness.
